... as opposed to "The Last Post". Which is a bugle call used to signal the day's ending. The name is derived from the British army practice of inspecting sentry posts around a camp and signalling with a bugle call from each post to say it had been inspected. The final sentry post to be inspected would signal with "The Last Post" of course, and this would signal the end of the military day.
"Wow" I hear you say... " One paragraph in and I've learnt something already." Or more realistically "Who cares about bugles?"
Well I can't guarantee that bugles will rear their shiny heads in this blog ever again, but I also can't rule it out. You see, although this blog will probably career along the twisty highway we call life, taking toilet breaks at various subject matter diners along the way, we will inevitably keep pulling up at those truck stops relating to musicality and...
Ok, I'm getting bogged down in the whole driving / motorway / diner metaphore thingy... so let's just say the main theme (pun intended) of this blog will most likely be music, musical instruments, musicians and that sort of thing.
So with the first post out of the way we are up and running. We are all a bit wiser about bugles, sentry posts and life in the British Army, and we have some idea about what to expect in this blog. Hopefully see you next time for a post that actually has some useful content.
